If you are looking for a place that creates the vibe of peace and tranquility to the mind…..Wow, you got it….. Nelligala International Buddhist center, one of the sacred places located at the top of the Nelligala Mountain with the aura of Buddhism and a breathtaking vicinity.
This is a recently constructed Buddhist temple situated in Muruthalawa, around 12 Km away from the Kandy town. The road from the village Muruthalwa to Nelligala is asphalt and the parking facilities are also available at the top of the mountain. The sight is the best place to soothe the mind for all Buddhists and non-Buddhists. The gold color of the Buddha statues mingle with the luminaire sky blue is picturesque and gives a uniqueness. The compound of the temple itself eases off all pilgrims with a sense of belief and symbolism.
The Nelligala International Buddhist center is best visited in the morning and in the evenings. Hanthana, Knuckles, Aludeniya, Piduruthalagala mountains are visible at the top creating an exquisite scenic beauty. The views of Sigiriya and the Samanola peak can be witnessed on the other side, veiled by the mist. Moreover, the 360-degree view of the central hills makes this place lustrous to the sightseeing visitors.
